Team Members
Amy E. Thompson,
Partner - Amy is responsible for all auditing and accounting. Her areas of expertise are in real
estate/construction, finance, governmental, ERISA, retail and
manufacturing. Amy has experience in
auditing, planning, internal compliance, corporate, pass-through, trusts and
estates. She also managed a large
internal control project for a retail subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, and the
implementation of internal controls at the City of Bellevue, Nebraska. She was employed by Arthur Andersen
LLP. Ms. Thompson is a 1991 graduate of
the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where she received a bachelor's degree
in business administration with an emphasis in accounting.
Mary E. Smith,
Partner - Mary's expertise and experience are in
areas of federal tax, including corporate, international, REIT, state and
local, and pass-through tax matters. As
a senior manager in the corporate tax department of First Data Corporation, she
was involved in tax research, mergers and acquisitions, planning, and
compliance for corporate operations on a worldwide basis. Prior to this, Arthur Andersen & Co.
employed her in their tax department, where she specialized in corporate
taxation. Ms. Smith graduated with
distinction in 1985 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she received
a bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis in
accounting.
Kathleen J.
Herrera, Audit Manager, has extensive experience with internal
controls and was the previous Sarbanes-Oxley coordinator for ConAgra
Foods/Frozen Foods. She has assisted in
the implementation of internal controls at the City of Bellevue, Nebraska, and
has expertise in the manufacturing and governmental arena. Ms. Herrera was employed by ConAgra
Foods/Frozen Foods for 17 years as a Senior Operations Financial Analyst and
Accountant, and was a revenue auditor for the Nebraska Department of
Revenue. She is a 1986 graduate of
Wayne State College with a bachelor's degree in accounting, and a 1990 graduate
of the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a master's in business
administration.
Kathleen E.
Ferrarini is experienced in both auditing and tax matters,
particularly in the partnership arena.
As a tax manager, she has expertise in investment real estate, finance,
retail, and construction. As a senior
accountant in the corporate tax department of First Data Corporation, she was
involved in tax research, planning, and compliance for corporate operations on a
worldwide basis. In addition, she was a
tax senior at Arthur Andersen & Co. where she specialized in partnership
and corporate taxation. Ms. Ferrarini
graduated in 1986 from the University of Nebraska-Omaha where she received a
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting.
